JH BEAR SOLUTIONS CONTINUES TO PROVIDE LIFE-SAVING TRASH CANS TO THE COMMUNITY
Since we have so many new subscribers to our newsletter, we wanted to tell you about another program area that WWA operates; JH Bear Solutions. To date, we have distributed over 1,000 self-locking bear-resistant trash cans to the community to help keep bears and people safe. Jackson Hole Bear solutions continues to be the leading go-to resource for trash cans and other resources that make it easy for the entire community to take part in protecting bears.
We continue to receive requests for cans and keep them in stock. We need to order more so your donations will go right to work!
Thanks again to the National Elk Refuge for the continued secure location to store the cans. And thanks to our incredible volunteers for all the hours they have helped unload cans, put on wheels, and replace latches. We couldn’t do it without you!

JH BEAR SOLUTIONS AND TETON BEAR PRODUCTS: A WINNING COMBINATION FOR BEARS
Robb Sgroi, the founder of Teton Bear Products, has partnered with us to help the community to continue on our path toward zero waste all while keeping bears safe by getting certified bear-resistant composters out into the community. Right now, we are offering a $150 voucher on the purchase of a certified composter through a grant from Yellowstone to Yukon and through funds from WWA.
If you would like a composter, please call

BOLD NEW CAMPAIGN CALLS ON PEOPLE TO TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR BEARS
Less than two weeks ago, a black bear was killed in Wilson because of trash conflicts. Bears are dying because of the availability of trash and other attractants. Bear-resistant trash cans only work if they are securely locked and not overfilled. Many times, visitors from out of town are unaware of the ramifications of not securing trash and other messaging isn’t reaching them. So, in order to capture some attention, we are launching a campaign to distribute signs in some of the most highly trafficked areas where renters and bears are present.
We hope that by reminding people that they are responsible for keeping bears safe and that there are real consequences for bears when we don’t secure our trash, that they will be more inclined to get a bear-resistant trash can or use a can properly.

WYOMING REPRESENTATIVES DOUBLE DOWN ON CRUELTY
A federal bill to ban pursuing and killing animals with snowmobiles has been picked up and introduced by Representative Nancy Mace from South Dakota. Also co-sponsoring the bill are Reps. Don Davis, D-N.C., Matt Gaetz, R-FL., and Troy Carter, D-LA. Immediately upon introduction, Senator Cynthia Lummis from Wyoming and Representative Harriet Hageman from Wyoming both said they wouldn’t be supporting the bill. Senator John Barrasso’s office said they would first read the bill before commenting. Wyoming officials claim that the sponsors of this bill don’t understand our Wyoming way of life. We can assure them that the Wyoming way of life doesn’t include animal cruelty. And if it does, we should stop at nothing to change that.
“Our federal lands are not battlegrounds for reckless and belligerent behavior,” Mace said in a statement. “This bill will preserve the safety and beauty of our natural spaces and ensure wildlife can thrive without the threat of harm from motor vehicles.” – Rep. Nancy Mace
