DON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SEE ONE OF THE BEST WILDLIFE FILMS OF THE YEAR!
Thursday, February 6 at 6:00pm
Doors open at 5:30
Center for the Arts in Jackson, Wyoming
Sierra Club Wyoming Chapter, Save the Yellowstone Grizzly and Wyoming Wildlife Advocates are proud to present a free screening of the new film “Return of the Grizzly” on Tuesday, February 6th at the Center for the Arts in Jackson. Special guests Tom Mangelsen and Kristin Combs will be in attendance to discuss the ongoing challenges of grizzly bear recovery and conservation.
The 37-minute documentary follows the path and challenges of the essential explorer bear, the innovative bear that comes from small, isolated core populations that generate them. Explorer bears have the personality traits that can lead to better relationships between humans and grizzlies.
Return of the Grizzly proves that, through coexistence and tolerance, humans and grizzlies can “learn” to live together as Native Americans have done for thousands of years. The film is narrated by one of America’s most beloved actors and storytellers, Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges. It is scored by legendary pianist Bill Payne of Little Feat.
Featured in the film is our very own JH Bear Solutions and JH Bear Solutions co-founder Savannah Rose. JH Bear Solutions is a part of a regionwide effort to make communities safer for bears and people by securing attractants and keeping bears seeking wild sources of food. The film highlights the ability of a community to rally together to protect bears.

SIGN OUR OPEN LETTER TO DIRECTOR HAALAND FOR WOLVES
In anticipation of a relisting decision set to be announced this February, and as part of the plan to ramp up pressure on the Administration to protect wolves, Relist Wolves launched an open letter to Secretary Haaland and the Department of Interior. WWA is a co-sponsor of this letter.
In just a few short weeks, we have garnered nearly 3,000 signatures thanks to all of YOU; let’s keep up the momentum!
It’s not too late. The letter will be live up to the moment we deliver them to Secretary Haaland and the Department. Join the pack and call on Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland to keep her promise and ensure that “wolves have the conservation they need to survive and thrive in the wild.”
Last fall, WildEarth Guardians hosted a webinar titled, Power of Connection for Grizzly Bear Recovery. We were invited to speak about grizzly bear recovery and what challenges grizzlies face from the states. We spoke alongside Adam Rissien and John Horning from WildEarth Guardians and Louisa Willcox and David Mattson. Click the link above to watch and learn more about grizzly bear recovery.

NORTHERN ROCKY MOUNTAIN WOLF DECISION DUE FEBRUARY 2
The US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) has been conducting a status review for Northern Rocky Mountain Gray Wolves for nearly over a year and a half. This came after a petition was filed by advocates and the USFWS found that there was sufficient evidence to show that gray wolves might be in danger without proper regulatory mechanisms in place to protect them from the states of Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. With increased killing of wolves occurring in all three states, including unlimited killing in most of Wyoming, wolves are under threat of eradication in the Northern Rockies if management by the states continues. No other species is managed the way wolves are with almost zero protections and to reduce their numbers to bare minimums. The USFWS is expected to release this their decision on Februrary 2. Wolves can either be listed again, remain listed, become a candidate for listing, reclassified, or critical habitat designations can occur following a status review. Stay tuned for more information.
